AI in Yoga Therapy
There are exciting changes coming to the field of yoga therapy thanks to AI. Artificial Intelligence is not a replacement for traditional yoga therapy, but can be a great tool to assist and deepen the outcome with more objective data.
I’m most excited about how different wearables can assist in tracking heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate (RHR), respiratory mechanics. active breath pacing, and showing stress impact through body battery or readiness scores.
List of Wearables:
Smart Rings (e.g., Oura, Ultrahuman): Excellent for tracking sleep, RHR, and resting HRV overnight. This provides context on the client's overall recovery state.
Specialized Chest Straps/Bands (e.g., Prana, Hexoskin): Best for real-time, accurate measurement of respiratory mechanics (diaphragmatic vs. chest breathing) and active breath pacing during Pranayama practice.
Smart Watches (e.g., Garmin, Apple Watch): Useful for tracking active HRV during guided meditation and for measuring the stress impact of daily life (often presented as a "Body Battery" or "Readiness" score).
Want to add any of these to your wish list? How are you already incorporating this data to help your health and wellness?
